Tourist-friendly Auto Rickshaws

Chennai autos have been in the bad books of the locals as well the tourists for their bargaining and for not following the meter system as in other cities. The launch of the TFA or the Tourist Friendly Auto scheme has given these ‘auto-walas’ an edge above their counterparts who serve the local residents within the city.

These auto rickshaws have been painted in a pale yellow color with pictographs of tourist attractions painted on them along with the TTDC logo. The Tourism Department has issued a photo identification card after verifying the antecedents of the drivers by the Police Department. The auto rickshaw drivers are reliable and have been trained in foreign languages such as French, German, and Japanese.
