Now it’s time to look back at our absolute favourite photos and stories from the trip! To begin… teams posing with signs.

Fun with Signs

Lost in translation….

Inventive!
The monsoon season can make traveling more difficult in India, however there’s much you can do to stay comfortable, and enjoy yourself during the rain. Here’s a suggested monsoon packing list for India from Sharell Cook.
Items to Pack for the Monsoon in India.
• A heavy duty umbrella.
• A raincoat. Long trench style coats work best.
• Knee length pants and pants in dark colors. This will help you avoid getting the bottoms of your pants wet, and will also hide splashed mud.
• Suitable wet weather shoes, such as rubber sandals and flip-flops. Wellington boots/gumboots are very useful, although they can be cumbersome to carry in your luggage.
• First aid supplies, particularly disinfectant scrubs and adhesive bandages/plaster.
• A small, absorbent hand towel.
• A small, waterproof backpack to carry a change of clothes in (just in case you get caught in the rain!) and other emergency items.
• A hairdryer, not just to help you avoid catching a cold from wet hair but also to quickly dry underwear.
• Mosquito repellent.
• A mosquito net, if you plan on staying in budget places where mosquitoes are unavoidable.
• For ladies, water proof makeup!
1. India is a huge, sprawling country The chances that something will happen to you are miniscule. Imagine canceling your trip to Italy because there was a bombing in Ireland. You wouldn’t even consider it.
2. India has a tremendous amount to offer travelers. Not going to India now would be an irrational response to an isolated incident. It would be like cutting off your arm because your big toe hurts. Millions of travelers (5 million in 2007) travel to India every year without incident.
3. India needs your support. If you have plans to go to India, don’t cancel them. If you are considering a trip, move forward with your plans. The Indian government, to great success, has been working hard to encourage travel to India – you can be sure they are going to make every effort to ensure the safety of tourists as they cannot afford to see a drop in tourism.
4. Now might be the best time. It’s unfortunate, but tourism generally does drop off to a destination after a terrorist attack. This means that costs on flights and accommodations are often slashed as airlines and hotels tempt tourists to come back.
