Uniforms: Auto drivers get 1 month more

The autorickshaw drivers in the city got another month’s time to get their uniforms ready, which were made mandatory by the traffic police and the regional transport authority (RTA). However, wearing of badges is compulsory for every auto driver from December 1.
This decision was announced by the traffic department of the city police on Saturday after a meeting with the officials of autorickshaw federations.

Now, the auto rickshaw drivers in the city will wear badges starting December 1 and uniform from January. The decision came after a meeting held between the traffic police department, rickshaw unions and regional transport authority (RTA).
However, nothing has been decided on making uniform and badges mandatory for cab drivers in the city.
After some untoward incidents involving travelers, Manoj Patil, DCP, traffic department had called a meeting of RTA officials and rickshaw unions on October 29 where it was decided that all rickshaw drivers in the city would wear uniforms and badges from December 1.

Now, RTA mulls pension for autorickshaw drivers

The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) will meet this week to give a push to its proposal of providing pension to autorickshaw drivers in the city, which it has forwarded to the state government before the assembly polls.
In an attempt to provide some relief to autorickshaw drivers in the city, the RTA had recently taken a decision to provide pension to licensed autorickshaw drivers who are above 55. With this, nearly 60,000 licensed autorickshaw owners or drivers will be able to enjoy the benefit of a pension. This scheme will also address the concerns of the licensed autorickshaw owners/drivers in Solapur.
