The Pune City Autorickshaw Federation has decided to rope in parents to support their fight against the proposed ban on autorickshaws transporting schoolchildren, to start from Mumbai this year.

The federation will be submitting a memorandum of demands with letters from parent in favour of school autorickshaws.

“A number of parents have shown their support to autorickshaw drivers and want the school autorickshaws to continue as they are more comfortable than school buses. As per a survey, almost 70 per cent of schoolchildren travel by autorickshaws. This means, it is a convenient mode of transport,” said Bapu Bhave, treasurer of the federation.
