Arranged With Love is a docudrama about Arranged Marriages from South East Asia, in particularly India. The documentary follows the path of a woman who is at a crossroad between her western brought-up dating culture and her traditional Indian roots. Up until now she swam with the current so to speak, but now begins a journey of discovery about her roots. Both ancient and mythic, parental and ancestral. In her homeland of India, virtually all women acquiesce to the process of arranged marriages. In fact her own parents’ marriage was carried out according to tradition – close family members investigate prospective spouses, weighing their character, personal habits, stability, family values and background as it is felt that parents and loved ones are in the position to bring to light wiser options. The Indian divorce rate is at 5% whereas in Western society it is rampant -in fact 50% or more. This disparity is an impetus on this young woman’s journey of discovery.
